The Yankees were hoping to get back on track tonight in the Kingdome, but they were blown out instead by a score of 10-2. Their losing streak has now reached four games after getting swept in the three-game series against Seattle.
Thanks to Oakland, who beat Baltimore 3-0, the Yankees still maintain a four-game lead in the division. However, after being up by as many as 12 games three-and-a-half weeks ago, it feels like the  Yankees are on the outside looking in at the playoffs.
Dwight Gooden started tonight and went 5.2 innings, giving up eight runs on nine hits while walking six. His offense didn’t help him out either. New York managed to score just one run off Seattle starter Terry Mulholland, who tossed seven innings. Wade Boggs drove in both Yankees runs on the night on a sac fly in the third, and a bases loaded walk in the ninth.
The Yankees will now take on the California Angels in the first of four starting tomorrow.
