Alex Rodriguez activated, Richard Bleier called up

The Yankees have activated Alex Rodriguez from the DL and called up LHP Richard Bleier from Scranton.

Bleier, 29, is 2-2 with a 2.57 ERA in six games (five starts) for the RailRiders this season. He was signed by the Yanks this past February after spending time in the Nationals, Blue Jays, and Rangers organizations. In 2015, he had the most wins (14) and the lowest ERA (2.57) in Washington’s farm system.

To make room, Chasen Shreve will be heading to the DL with shoulder trouble, and Rob Refsnyder will likely be optioned to Scranton (club has not confirmed.) He only saw action in one game, going 1-3 with two RBIs.

The injury might explain Shreve’s struggles this season. He holds a 5.21 ERA and has given up seven homers in 19 games.
