This date in Yankees history: Posada pulverizes 200th home run

BRONX, N.Y. — On this date in 2007, New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada belted career home run No. 200. The home run came during a 10-3 rout of the Cleveland Indians, at the big ballpark in the Bronx.

In a monster mash second stanza, Doug Mientkiewicz and Alex Rodriguez took Tribe starter Jake Westbrook deep. Capping off the six-run frame was Posada, launching one off his ex-batterymate to right-center for a two-run tater.

It was the beginning of a big year for Posada, who set career highs with a slash line of .338/.426/.543. Posada was also an AL All-Star and earned the silver slugger award.

In his 17-year Yankee career, Posada would hit 275 home runs, ranking him No. 8 in franchise history.
