Yankees Player of the Week: 7/6-7/12 Edition

In a week that saw the Yankees take 2 of 3 from both the Athletics and Red Sox, Brett Gardner continued his attack on Major League pitching. Brett ‘The Jet’ hit .360 over the 6 games, with 1 home run, 3 RBI, and and on-base percentage of .429. Gardner heads into the All Star break this week with a solid .302 batting average on the season and earned a spot on the American League roster in Cincinnati when Alex Gordon landed on the DL.

To put into perspective just how valuable Brett Gardner has been for the Yankees this season, he is currently leading the Yankees in batting average (.302), hits (96), runs (63), doubles (22), triples (3), total bases (154), and stolen bases (15). Gardner stepped up big time when Ellsbury landed on the DL and is one of the main reasons why the Yankees are in first place in the American League east with a 3.5 game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays.
