Yankees game 55 preview (6/5/15)

Nathan Eovaldi (4-1, 4.40 ERA) and the Yanks come back to the Bronx to take on Jared Weaver (4-4, 4.08 ERA) and the Angels in a three game set. Eovaldi gave up a season high 11 hits his last time out against the Athletics giving up three runs in a 4 2/3 innings no decision. He faced the Halos once as a Marlin giving up six runs and 10 hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Weaver started the season 0-4 with a 6.29 ERA but he settled down to throw five consecutive quality outings with a 1.98 ERA in that span. He has given up eight runs to just five walks in 36 1/3 innings in those five starts. He gave up three runs on nine hits through 6 1/3 innings against Detroit his last time out.

The Bronx crowd could see Albert Pujols tie or pass one of their own. He is two long balls away from tying Mickey Mantle on the all time home runs list. The Machineย is currently 17th on the list with 534 and the Mick is at 536. He has five bombs off the Bombers with a lifetime .347 (33-95) average.

Tidbits:

Andrew Miller is the first pitcher in Yankees history to convert his first 17 save opportunities.

Dellin Betances has not permitted a run in 29 1/3 innings this year.

The Angels have some young player named Mike Trout. He’s kinda good. He’s hitting .289 with 14 homers, 31 RBIs, 40 runs and a .932 OPS.
