Game 107: CC Grinds To 16

CC Sabathia smoothly went through the early innings of the game but a two-run blast by the White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez closed a gap in the early lead the Yankees lefty received. Sabathia got through the first 3 innings with minimal effort as the White Sox were swinging early in the count and were not generating any offense with this approach.

The Yankees offense managed to get 2 runs early as they attacked White Sox starting pitcher Jake Peavy aggressively. However after the early runs, Peavy settled down and went 7 innings with only 3 runs scoring.

The White Sox squandered numerous opportunities to score late in the game as runners were in scoring position with less than 2 outs and nothing developed. The White Sox were 1 for 8 with runners in scoring position.

Mariano Rivera closed out the game after Sabathia had gone 8 innings and grinds through the 10 hits to get his ML-leading 16th win.
