The biggest rivalry in sports had a 3-game series start tonight. Bartolo Colon faced off wifh Jon Lester. With the Red Sox ahead 2-0, a three-run 6th including a double by Nick Swisher helped turn the game in the Yankees favor and they would not relinquish the lead. Mariano Rivera closed out tonight’s game and put the Yankees atop the AL East.
Bartolo Colon was not effective as he only lasted 4.2 innings due to an uncharacteristically high pitch count. The bullpen supported Colon and did not allow a run to the powerhouse lineup in Bean Town.
