Game 143: Yankees Lose Close One

After playing in New York and Baltimore, the Yankees made their way out to the West coast for a series with the Angels that began with a 2-1 loss on a walk-off sacrifice fly.

Bartolo Colon allowed 1 unearned run through 7 innings of effective pitching. Unfortunately, Jered Weaver outdueled the former Angels pitcher with 8 innings and 11 strikeouts despite Jesus Montero proving he can take inside pitches deep.

The Yankees offense was kept to just 3 hits as Weaver contained them long enough for the Angels to get the game-winning run off of the September call-up, Aaron Laffey and Luis Ayala.
