In the rubber game of the three-game series with the Detroit Tigers, the Tigers (69-46) send Justin Verlander (12-8, 3.50) to the mound and the Yankees (58-57) send Andy Pettitte (7-9, 4.71).

In Verlander’s previous start at Cleveland, the 2011 Cy Young and Most Valuable Player award winner went eight innings. He gave up one run on four hits while striking out seven.
