Preview – Yankees at Rays (4/19/15)

The Yankees go for the sweep as Michael Pineda (1-0, 5.11 ERA) faces off against Matt Andriese (0-0, 3.86 ERA). Pineda gave up five runs on nine hits and struck out nine in 6 1/3 innings, but still got the W in his last start at Baltimore. He has 15 strikeouts with one walk in 12 1/3 innings. The Rays bats are a combined .162 (6-37) against big Mike. David DeJesus leads the team with four hits in 15 at bats.

Andriese made his first start of the year against the Blue Jays last week, allowing two runs on five hits in 3 2/3 innings. The rookie gives up a lot of ground balls because he keeps the ball low.

Mark Teixeira‘s next home run will be the 367th of his career, giving him sole possession of fifth place on the all time list for switch hitters passing Lance Berkman. Carlos Beltran is next on the list with 373. Mickey Mantle is at the top with 536.

Tidbits:

Evan Longoria is 0-11 with four strikeouts against Pineda.

This will be Longoria’s 255th consecutive start, which leads the Majors.
