Preview: Yankees at Twins (7/6/14)

Hiroki-Kuroda-walking-off-mound

Hiroki Kuroda (5-6, 4.08 ERA) takes on Ricky Nolasco (5-6, 5.49 ERA) in the last game of the Twins’ series. Kuroda’s last start against the Rays, he held them to two runs over eight innings, but the good old offense didn’t show up for him causing him to take a loss, shock. “Especially today, we were facing Price, who is a real good pitcher,” Kuroda said. “So I was expecting it’s not going to be easy. I was trying to be sure I could get both corners and try to minimize the damage.” He’s tossed quality starts in his last three outings and five of his last six.

Nolasco was solid against the Royals his last time out, giving up just one run on eight hits over six innings to get his first win since June 4. It was also his first quality start since May 30. “He’s had a tough go,” said Terry Ryan. “We need to get him going here. He’s one of our major offseason acquisitions. High hopes.”
