Yankees game 118 preview (8/18/15)

CC Sabathia (4-9, 5.23 ERA) brings the fight to the mound to take on Mike Pelfrey (6-7, 3.70 ERA) and the Twins. Sabathia is coming off back to back great starts against Boston and Cleveland. He gave up three runs on 12 hits through 12 innings in those outings. His offense rewarded him with a no decision and a loss by scoring three runs TOTAL in those games. How nice of them. He faced the Twins back on July 25, giving up five runs on six hits (two homers) through 5 2/3 innings. He took a no decision but the team won 8-5.

Pelfrey lasted just 3 2/3 innings two starts ago, but rebounded nicely against Texas. He threw seven innings of one run four hit ball. In five career outings against the Yanks, he owns a 5.28 ERA through 29 innings. This will be his first time seeing them since 2011.

Tidbits:

Sabathia is 17-9 in 35 career starts against Minnesota.

Brian Dozier has a nine-game hit streak against the Yankees.

Sabathia hasn’t won since July 8.
