Luis Severino’s (0-2, 3.18 ERA) first big league win still eludes him. He will take on Danny Salazar (11-6, 3.16 ERA) in hopes that the offense will repay his efforts and score him some runs. Severino makes his fourth career start after striking out nine Blue Jays allowing three runs through six. He made his second big league start against Cleveland back on the 11th, giving up two runs on seven hits through six taking a no decision.
Salazar has thrown seven consecutive quality outings and holds a 3.8 strikeout to walk ratio this year. He held Boston to one run on a solo shot through seven innings his last time out. He faced the Yanks in his start before that, also allowing one run on a solo shot through 7 1/3 in the win.
The Yankees will honor Jorge Posada before today’s game. He will have his number 20 retired and will enter Monument Park. Be sure to tune in early to relive the glory days of the Core Four.
