Adam Warren (6-6, 3.29 ERA) takes his rightful place back in the rotation to take on Jake Odorizzi (7-8, 3.21 ERA) and the Rays. Warren makes his first start since June 25 when he was idiotically sent to the pen. He went 5 2/3 innings in that start, giving up three runs on five hits to the Astros taking a loss.
Odorizzi is coming off six shutout innings against the Tigers, allowing six hits and six strikeouts. He lost to the Yanks back on September 4, giving up five runs on three homers in 6 2/3 innings of work. He is 3-3 with a 2.61 ERA in 10 starts at home this year.
Tidbits:
Brian McCann is hitting .647 (11-17) with three doubles, a triple, three home runs and 10 RBIs against Odorizzi.
The Yanks are 3 back from Toronto.
The Rays are 43-56 against righty starters this season.
