Yankees game 158 preview (9/30/15)

The Yankees continue to limp toward the finish line with Masahiro Tanaka (12-7, 3.38 ERA) taking on Wade Miley (11-11, 4.39 ERA) in game three of four. Tanaka makes his return from a grade 1 hamstring strain suffered back on September 18 against the Mets. He went six innings giving up two runs on five hits taking the loss. He is 3-0 in his three starts against Boston this year.

Miley had a two hit shutout going through five innings in his last start against the Rays. However, he would go on to give up three runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to take the loss. He is 0-2 with a no decision in his three outings against the Yanks this season, the no decision coming back in that 19 inning marathon in April.

Tidbits:

The Yanks have lost 8 of their last 12 outings against lefties.

Still waiting on franchise win 10,000.

Boston needs to win four of their last five to avoid consecutive losing seasons for the first time since 1992-94.
