Yankees game 51 preview (5/31/16)

CC Sabathia (3-3, 2.83 ERA) gets another shot at J.A. Happ (6-2, 3.20 ERA) after taking a tough luck loss to him five days ago. Sabathia was great in that outing, allowing just two unearned runs on two hits through seven innings to the Jays. However, his (lack of) offense only pushed across one run and he took the L. The big man hopes to close out a stellar May with a bang. He has gone 2-1 with a 0.45 ERA and 21 strikeouts over 20 innings this month.

Happ allowed that one run on three hits through seven innings and, obviously, got the win against the Yanks. He has gone seven innings and allowed three hits in back to back starts. He’s allowed three runs or fewer in nine of his 10 starts this season.

Tidbits:

Happ is 5-2 with a 4.15 ERA in his career against the Yankees, the most wins he has against any team.

The Yanks have lost seven of their last eight series against Toronto.

Carlos Beltran is 9-30 (.300) with three homers against Happ in his career.
