Yankees game 83 preview (7/7/15)

Oakland comes to town for a three game set and Nathan Eovaldi (8-2, 4.52 ERA) and Sonny Gray (9-3, 2.09 ERA) will kick things off. Eovaldi is coming off a win against the Angels in which he threw 5 1/3 innings of five hit shutout ball. He took a no decision back on May 30 against the A’s, going 4 2/3 giving up three runs on 11 hits. He is 0-1 with a 5.60 ERA in three career starts against them.

This will be Gray’s first start since suffering from salmonella last week, which caused him to miss two starts. His last start was back on June 25 against Texas when he got the win throwing six innings giving up three runs on nine hits. He faced the Yanks back on May 29, giving up two runs on four hits through eight innings taking the win. This will be his first career start at Yankee Stadium. He is 1-1 with a 3.21 ERA in two career starts against the Bombers.

 

Tidbits:

Eovaldi has a 2.08 ERA in day games and 5.55 ERA in night games.

The A’s took three of four back in May.

Gray is 6-1 with a 1.88 ERA in nine road starts this year.
