Yankees Spring Training Game 14: 4-Run 7th Wins Game

New York Yankees 8 — Washington Nationals 5

Five consecutive singles in the 7th inning led to 3 runs in today’s 8-5 win over the Washington Nationals. Michael Pineda started today’s Spring start and went 3.2 innings with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk, and 4 hits that led to 2 runs. Pineda’s velocity was not where many people would be satisfied with but his changeup looked good. One of Pineda’s 4 strikeouts was against highly-praised prospect, Bryce Harper.

Bill Hall started the offense for the Yankees with a 2-run double in the 3rd inning but Pineda gave back those runs in his appearance. The Yankees would trail until the string of singles in the 7th inning put the Yankees ahead and the Yankees would never trail again.

Win – Brett Marshall (1-0)

Loss – John Lannan (0-1)

Save – Adam Warren (1)
