Robinson Cano crushed a 3-run home run in the second inning of today’s 6-3 victory over the Houston Astros. The Yankees came out of the gates hot as they brought in 5 runs in the first 2 innings. Curtis Granderson and Andruw Jones also took part in the early offense by driving in the other 2 runs in the 5 run outburst that helped the Yankees on their way to the win. Bill Hall also hit a line drive solo home run in the 7th.
Hiroki Kuroda started for the Yankees and went 4 innings with only 1 run on 3 hits. Mariano Rivera hit one batter but got a strikeout and a double play to have a scoreless inning of work. The Astros made it a 3-run game with 2 runs in the 8th but Dellin Betances pitched the 9th and closed out the game.
