New York Yankees 4 — Boston Red Sox 4
Only in Spring Training will there be a tie game. Tonight’s game ended in 9 innings with a tie between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.
As a last-minute option, minor league starting pitcher Adam Warren took on the Boston Red Sox and pitched 4 shutout innings with 3 strikeouts and 2 hits. Dellin Betances continues to show signs of greatness as well as some lack of control as he threw 3 hitless innings with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Unfortunately, Cory Wade’s shaky 0.2 inning of work included 3 runs on 4 hits where he displayed an unusual lack of control. The tying run would come in on the 9th inning on a squeeze bunt sacrifice.
Curtis Granderson got the offense started with a hit-and-run triple in the 4th inning that easily scored Brett Gardner from 1st. Andruw Jones drove Granderson in afterwards. Doug Bernier finished up the runs for the Yankees with a two-run double in the 5th.
