McCann day-to-day with toe injury

Brian McCann took a foul ball from Edwin Encarnacion off the foot tonight in the Yankees 3-2 win over the Blue Jays. After getting hit, McCann hit the game-tying home run and went on to play until the eighth inning before being replaced by Austin Romine.

Joe Girardi seemed concerned after the game about the injury, but the Yankees catcher had a fluoroscope test that came back negative. He is listed as day-to-day with a bruised toe and the Yankees say they are comfortable with the diagnosis.

McCann is off to a scorching start for the Yankees and losing him for an extended period of time would be a big blow to the Bombers. He is hitting .467 before tonight’s game, where he went 2-for-3.
