Since the spasms first started on Sunday, and haven’t subsided, the team made the call to shut him down for two weeks. If the Yankees plan on making a deep push into the postseason, the right hander will be a much needed piece.
The 30-year-old has been a reliable weapon out of the bullpen for the Yanks, owning a 2.40 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 56.1 innings of work. From May 27 to August 16, he allowed just two earned runs over 27.2 innings (0.65 ERA).
The Yankees will close out the series with Baltimore Thursday afternoon.
