Joe Girardi revealed that the Yankees will promote Adam Warren to fill C.C. Sabathia’s rotation slot and make his Major League Debut on Friday against the Chicago White Sox. Warren has a 5-5 record with a 3.86 ERA this season for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. He has also led the Yankees’ AAA affiliate in innings In June, Warren has been much improved, going 3-2 with a 2.03 ERA.

The 24-year old has a five pitch arsenal, most of which is based off the fastball. He sports a four-seam fastball, two-seam fastball, and cutter, all of which sit in the 91-94 range. His four-seamer has topped out around 96 MPH. Additionally, he has a curve and a change-up, but doesn’t have great control of either just yet.

Warren will wear number 43 in his debut on Friday. No corresponding move for the 40-man roster has been announced, but he will fill Sabathia’s roster spot. Ryota Igarashi will fill the other open roster spot.
