Brian Cashman praises Triple-A trio

The question Brian Cashman seems to be getting the most as of late is, when will we see Aaron Judge? The 6 foot 7 outfielder is hitting .271/.328/.508 with seven homers and 20 RBIs over 29 games in Scranton, and the GM certainly knows it. However, his plan remains to keep Judge in Triple-A. This way he gets more at-bats and Aaron Hicks gets more outfield at-bats in the Majors. When he was on with Mad Dog on Monday, he responded to the call up questions and praised the young prospect.

“You know, Aaron Judge is doing really well in his second stint (at Triple-A.) He had 250 plate appearances where he struggled. He’s certainly rectified that. he’s got an .822 OPS in the international league. I think that’s in the top 15.”

But his praise didn’t stop at Judge.

“And Gary Sanchez is really swinging it now, He’s in the top five in the International League. He’s been a bat. And Refsnyder’s been unlucky. He’s hitting .250 down there, but he’s having quality at-bats the entire season.”

As for the struggling offense and the chance of seeing any of the big 3 soon:

“There are alternatives we could turn to down there, but especially for the outfield, I think Aaron Hicks is the guy that I think is going to be getting the bulk of the playing time as much as he could possibly warrant. So no plans right now to dip down below but we think we can self-correct with most of the guys we’ve been around here. But, of course, if things continue, we’ll be forced to look outside.”

The guys are improving and helping their own cause. On Monday, Judge hit his fourth homer in six games. Sanchez started slowly, but The Kraken has been unleashed. He’s hitting .282 with five homers and 20 RBIs. Refsnyder had a slow start and doesn’t have any homers yet, but he’s brought his average up from .222 on May 1 to .273 today.

In the meantime, the Bronx Faithful wait with bated breath to see these three in pinstripes.
