Triple-A: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
Game 1: Buffalo 6, SWB 1
Dellin Betances struggled mightily during the first game of this double-header, allowing six runs on four hits and two walks in just two-thirds of an inning. He would take the loss as his ERA ballooned to 15.43. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre couldn’t manage to do much offensively, they mustered just five hits in the game. Zoilo Almonte was the only SWB hitter to come away with an extra-base hit after lacing a sixth inning double.
Game 2: SWB 12, Buffalo 5
Apparently, Dave Miley forgot to tell his team that they couldn’t add their totals from the second game to the totals from Game 1. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s offense erupted in Game 2, scoring 12 runs as they defeated Buffalo. Zoilo Almonte was once again the offensive star, going 3-for-3 and scoring three runs. He also drove in a pair of runs. Backup catcher Bobby Wilson drove home four runs in the game, including three on a bases-clearing, two-out double in the bottom of the third inning. Brett Marshall was hit hard yet again, surrendering five runs on six hits and four walks in just 4.1 innings. Cody Eppley earned the win with 2.2 shutout innings.
Double-A: Trenton Thunder
Trenton 15, Richmond 1
Trenton’s bats came alive on Sunday, with their 1-thru-4 hitters driving in 14 of the team’s 15 runs. Tyler Austin led the charge with five runs batted in during a 3-for-6 performance. J.R. Murphy and Walter Ibarra joined Austin in producing three-hit games, while Rob Segedin, Ramon Flores, and Kevin Mahoney all had two hits apiece. Caleb Cotham’s command was spotty but he gave Trenton four innings of one-run pitching. Shaeffer Hall earned the victory with a shutout inning of relief.
High-A: Tampa Yankees
Daytona 3, Tampa 1
A quality start from Scottie Allen wasn’t enough, and Tampa fell to Daytona by a score of 3-1. Francisco Arcia had the lone multi-hit game, and only he and Ben Gamel had extra-base hits. Tampa’s only RBI on the day came courtesy of Eduardo Sosa’s two-out single in the fourth inning. Top prospects Mason Williams and Gary Sanchez had a hit apiece.
Class-A: Charleston RiverDogs
Charleston 7, Augusta 7
The RiverDogs saw their game suspended after 13 innings. The game will be finished on June 13.
