After CC Sabathia tweaked his knee in his start against the Blue Jays, the Yankees had to find someone to start on Sunday night. On Thursday afternoon, Joe Girardi announced Jordan Montgomery will be recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to start against Chris Sale and the Boston Red Sox.

After Montgomery’s start against the Cleveland Indians, the Yankees sent him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in an effort to limit his innings. He was slated to start once a week and only pitch five innings. However, due to Sabathia’s injury, the Yankees are in need of Montgomery’s services.
It’s likely Sabathia will end up on the disabled list for just the second time this season. However, the Yankees haven’t officially announced the move.
