Six Yankee prospects were featured in ESPN’s 2017 Top 100 prospect rankings. Senior Writer Keith Law also lists the Yankees organization as having the second-best farm system in all of baseball.
The Yankee prospects that made the Top 100 list include:
#4- Gleyber Torres– SS
#22- Blake Rutherford– OF
#27- Clint Frazier– OF
#28- James Kaprielian– RHP
#44- Aaron Judge– OF
#88- Justus Sheffield– LHP
Just a year ago, the Yankees’ farm system ranked 13th in Law’s preseason team prospect rankings. With the help of a few midseason acquisitions last summer, the Yankees organization added some quality young talent that looks to have a very bright future ahead.
Of the six Yankee prospects on the top 100 list, only Judge has made his MLB debut so far. The 24-year-old played in 26 games for the Bronx Bombers in 2016 before ending his season with an injury.
As for the other five prospects, Yankees fans have a lot to look forward to in the near future. They all might not make their debuts in the big leagues this season, but it’s likely that the Yankees will have a lot of young talent making their first impressions in the Bronx this season.
