Yankees roster moves: 8/18/15

If you were watching the game last night, a scary moment happened to Yankees starter Bryan Mitchell. He was hit in the face by a line drive off the bat of Eduardo Nunez.

Mitchell immediately left the game and was later revealed that he has a small nasal fracture. Today, Mitchell was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list.

The Yankees recalled journeyman Chris Capuano to replace Mitchell. After burning through their bullpen last night, the Yankees sent down Caleb Cotham and recalled Nick Rumbelow from Triple-A.

Cotham gave up four runs, three of which were earned in 2.0 innings Monday night. This is Rumbelow’s third appearance with the big club. He has appeared in six games to a 1.69 earned run average in 5.1 innings.

Capuano was outrighted to Triple-A after he was designated for assignment and cleared waivers over the weekend. He has a 6.97 ERA in 16 games for the Yankees this season.

With a burned out bullpen the Yankees have to hope that CC Sabathia gives them length against the Minnesota Twins.
