After today’s win over the Washington Nationals in Grapefruit League exhibition, the Yankees made their first round of cuts, starting with their top prospect Manny Banuelos.
Here are the 14 players that made the first round of cuts:

RHP Dan Burawa
RHP Adam Miller
RHP Brett Marshall
RHP Ryan Pope
RHP Graham Stoneburner
RHP Chase Whitley
2B Corban Joesph
2B David Adams
C Gary Sanchez
C/3B J.R. Murphy
C Kyle Higashioka
OF Zoilo Almonte
OF Melky Mesa
All of these players were reassigned to the minor league complex except the guys who are on the 40-man roster. They had to be optioned to a specific level.
David Adams and Zoilo Almonte were optioned to Double-A Trenton.
Melky Mesa and Corban Joesph were optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Those assignments can change between now and Opening Day, but that’s where those four are assigned for now.
