The Yankees may still be alive in the playoff chase, but their chances are dwindling even on an off-day.
According to Daniel Barbarisi, the Yankees just announced that CC Sabathia suffered a grade 2 hamstring strain in his last start, and will be shutdown for the remainder of the season. Sabathia was scheduled to start in the upcoming series against the Rays, but instead will be a spectator as an injury of this caliber can take up to eight weeks to heal.
Sabathia’s worst season as a Yankee, and one of the worst in his career, will finally be over after going 14-13 with a 4.78 ERA. He gave up career-high 112 runs.
CC Sabathia has been shut down for 2013 due to a hamstring strain suffered Friday. A fitting end to an awful season.
