Mailbag madness! Scott and I answer Yankees mailbag and voice mail questions ranging from off season trades, free agent targets, Refsnyder, Teixeira, ARod, Gardner, and the farm system. Shout out to everyone who submitted mailbag questions this week. We also recap Jets vs Patriots and preview the World Series. (NYY talk starts at 21:10 minute mark.)
We start the show by recapping the Jets vs Patriots game from Sunday, and I give Scott (the poor, poor Jets fan) some crap for the way his team lost. We also preview the World Series, which starts tonight. Scott thinks the Mets will win while I’m praying the Royals pull it out. Hey, at least its not Mets vs Blue Jays.
If this week’s amount of mailbag submissions is any indication, I’d say people miss Yankees baseball. Mailbag questions start at the 26:20 minute mark.
Trent Ortiz – If the Yankees really don’t want to use Refsnyder, what do you think they’ll do for second base next year? Do you think they’ll use Ackley or maybe pursue some outside options.
Remy Mike – What do you think the Yankees will do with Gardner? Can you see them going after Heyward?
Marc Schaeffer – So many questions… Do they try and get a 1 or 2 starter like Price? My answer: he will want too many years. No pitcher over 30 should get more than 4 years. How do they keep Gardner fresh for 2nd half? or do they move him for RH bat? Second base is an issue because its an open spot but I dont see any reasonable outcome as having a major impact on playoff chances next year. How do they get younger? Where will Bird play next year?
Greg Wilson – 1) Do you think Masahiro Tanaka will be 100% next year and what do you think his performance will be like? 2) Should the Yankees hire Mattingly has hitting/bench coach? 3) Is it possible Jordan Zimmerman could be in pinstripes next year?
