Andrew Miller and John Ryan Murphy catch up on twitter

John Ryan Murphy is in spring training camp away from the Yankees for the first time in his career. The fan favorite catcher was of course traded to the Twins this past offseason for outfielder Aaron Hicks. Yesterday on twitter, Murphy and former battery mate Andrew Miller had a nice little exchange:

Awwwwwwwwww.

Miller’s twitter pic is of him and Murphy high-fiving on the mound at Yankee Stadium last year. We saw how Murphy acted in the clubhouse during the team’s champagne-filled celebration after clinching a playoff spot, so he seems like a really fun guy to be around. He was no doubt a good clubhouse presence, and a guy who brought energy to the team.

Murphy’s struggling so far this spring, however. He’s hitting 2-for-28, but manager Paul Molitor says he still sees him as the team’s backup catcher.

We wish Murph well in the Twin Cities!
