Miami Marlins 3 — New York Yankees 7
CC Sabathia made his Spring debut in today’s 7-3 win over the Miami Marlins.
Travis Hafner was brought in this offseason to provide offense that would benefit from the short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium and today was his first true showing of power. In the 3rd inning, Hafner hit a no doubt two-run home run into right field for his first home run of the Spring. Francisco Cervelli jumped on a high pitch and hit it just over the left field wall in the 2nd inning too. Jose Pirela put on a good showing too with two triples in three at-bats, bringing in one run and scoring twice.
CC Sabathia made his Spring debut today and went five innings. He gave up two runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and a walk. The lone run that Joba Chamberlain gave up came on the start of his second inning of work. After a leadoff single, David Robertson took over and would allow the game-tying run to score. Mark Montgomery and Vidal Nuno pitched scoreless innings to hold the lead that was retrieved.
Win – David Robertson
