Minnesota Twins 6 — New York Yankees 1
David Phelps couldn’t finish the 4th inning in tonight’s 6-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins.
The Yankees offense was non-existent in tonight’s game. The World Baseball Classic MVP from the Dominican Republic, Robinson Cano, returned to the lineup tonight and got the only hit for the Yankees. Cano would score on a flyball to left field that outfielder Joe Benson made an error on.
David Phelps started tonight’s game and had a smooth three innings of work. In his fourth inning of work, Phelps would give up four hits, a walk, and a sacrifice fly for four runs until he got his first out. He would get one more out and would need the bullpen to take over. Phelps would allow five runs without getting out of the fourth inning. Mariano Rivera gave up a leadoff single, his first hit of the Spring, but would proceed to strikeout the side. David Robertson would follow Rivera and gave up one hit while striking out two in his inning. David Aardsma had a scoreless inning of work with one strikeout. Boone Logan would give up a run in his inning and Preston Claiborne added a scoreless inning to the game.
