Bronx Bombers home run alert boomsticks and broomsticks

Keeping tabs on every home run for the New York Yankees this season. In what was their first sweep at the “Trop,” in a decade, the Yanks offense was a powder keg. Which may help explain A-Rod’s helmet. Not even the dreaded catwalks could halt the Yanks power surge. The weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays, saw the Yankees go yard four times.

As of this writing, the Yanks are second in MLB with 17 home runs.

On Saturday, Chris Young swatted a grand slam during the seventh inning, drilling a Grant Balfour pitch to left, capping off a 9-0 Yankee rout. It was Young’s third home run of the season. Young now has six home runs in his Yankee career or two less than he did in 88-games with the New York Mets.

Three round trippers cleared the fence on Friday for New York. Alex Rodriguez crushed a pair of bombs, his first landing somewhere near Miami. Those home runs gave A-Rod four on the season, 313 as a Yankee and 658 on his career.

Sandwiched between those home runs in the second and sixth, was Stephen Drew. Drew’s solo shot in the fourth, was his third of the season, sixth as a Yankee and the 100th of his career.
