Despite a rough start to the week in Miami where the Yankees dropped both games of the 2-game series, the Bronx Bombers were able to rebound to finish the week with a 4-3 record against the Marlins and Tigers. With a solid .444 BA, with 2 HR’s, 4 runs, and 8 RBI’s, there is no doubt that Alex Rodriguez is the Yankees Player of the Week for June 15 through June 21. Besides being dominating at the plate over the last 7 days, Alex joined an exclusive club on Friday night by becoming a member of the 3,000 hit club… a club that includes only 28 other members in the history of MLB. What made the accomplishment even more special was the fact that A-Rod became just the 3rd member of the club to join by way of home run, joining Wade Boggs and former teammate Derek Jeter.
Alex Rodriguez has gone above and beyond to win back the trust of fans this season with his team first attitude. Some people say it’s a show, others say it is sincere, but the fact is, Alexander Emmanuel Rodriguez is helping this team win and its showing. I, along with a few of my colleagues and friends, owe A-Rod a huge apology. I severely underestimated his value to this team coming off his suspension. He has done nothing but surprise me each game of the season. Here’s to hoping that he’s the player of the week a few more times this season!
