AAA: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees
Scranton topped Durham on Thursday night by a score of 6-2 behind a strong offensive performance that saw the team compile eleven hits. Notably, Doug Bernier went 3-for-4 including a double and a run scored, and Colin Curtis was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Russell Branyan also continued his hot start at the AAA level with a 1-3 performance that included a pair of RBI. On the mound, Nelson Figueroa pitched six shutout innings, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out five. The victory moved Figueroa to 4-2 on the season.
AA: Trenton Thunder
Mikey O’Brien earned his third victory since being promoted to Trenton less than a month ago with a great performance for the Thunder last night. O’Brien went five innings, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out a pair. David Adams was responsible for bringing home three Thunder runs in the 5-1 victory. Even more impressively, Adams did so without recording a hit. Jose Pirela and Addison Maruszak were the others with RBIs. Damon Sublett, getting a start in left field, was the only player to produce a multi-hit game for Trenton.
High-A: Tampa Yankees
Tampa was rained out yet again on Thursday night.
Class A: Charleston RiverDogs
Bryan Mitchell struggled mightily last night, giving up five runs (four earned) on eight hits while lasting just 3.1 innings. The outing set the RiverDogs back from the get-go, as Mitchell took his fourth loss of the season with Charleston falling to Hickory 7-3. Offensively, there were only a couple bright spots. Mason Williams went 2-for-5 on the day with a double and two runs scored. He also stole his 16th base of the season. Additionally, Gary Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
