Behind Bronx Pinstripes- Keith McPherson

Would you look at that! Two Behind Bronx Pinstripes in back-to-back days? Must be some sort of record. Today we’re focusing on our media maven and former MLB Cave dweller, Keith McPherson. I drilled Keith with the same questions our other BP members have dealt with. Let’s see how he did.

JM- How did you get involved with BP and what is your current role?

KM- I was a follower/fan of BP. I reached out to Scott last year to invite some of the guys to the fan cave. After last season ended Scott got in touch with me about joining the team.

JM- You had the opportunity to represent Yankee fans in MLB’s Fancave last season. What was that like for you? What were a couple of your favorite memories?

KM- The MLB fan cave was easily the best experience of my life. Working for MLB, meeting players, and representing the Yankees was a dream come true. My favorite memories are going to the All Star game in Minnesota last year and watching Jeter’s final game play out the way it did in the fan cave.

JM- The guys started it on the podcast, but what is your Walk Up song coming up to the plate?

KM- I’d change my walk up music probably every other week but for right now it would be something from the Dirty Sprite 2 album by Future.

JM- Who is your favorite Yankee of All-Time? Your favorite NON Yankee? If there was one player in the history of baseball that you would want to see play- past or present, who is it?

KM- Bernie Williams. Ken Griffey Jr. Hank Aaron.

JM- You’re at the Stadium for a game, what’s your go-to drink/food order?

KM- A souvenir cup Bud Light and the chicken fingers/sliders bucket with fries.

JM- What is your most memorable moment sitting in Yankee Stadium?

KM- I really don’t have one from the past but this year I was there for A-Rod HR to pass Willie Mays. I was also there to see a fan throw Joey Bats home run back and hit Brett Gardner in the head. That’s something I’ve never seen in baseball and if you weren’t paying attention you probably missed it.

JM- If you were on the Yankees, what position would you be playing?

KM- Right field. I’ve got some speed to burn. I could cover some ground.

JM- Since you’re on the Yankees now, you hit a HR- what’s Sterling’s radio call as the ball leaves the park?

KM- That ball is gone and the Yankees take the lead! Have no fear, Fearless McPherson is here!

JM- When you aren’t watching the Yankees, what are you most likely doing?

KM- Lifting, running, working on music.

JM- What is your Top 3 baseball movie list?

KM- Sandlot, Rookie of the Year, and Hard Ball.

JM- Dream vacation spot, or your favorite vacation you’ve been on?

KM- I don’t vacation much but I’m going to Dallas for a Cowboys game this year. I’ve had that dream for a while.

JM- Have an extra ticket for that trip to Dallas?? Anyways, who is your favorite “non-Yankee”/ “non-baseball” Twitter profile to follow?

JM- If you could break one record in baseball what would it be?

KM- This isn’t a record but winning the Triple Crown is the ultimate to me. I don’t know when we’ll see that again after Miggy pulled it off.

JM- Last question: Hitting a walk-off HR in the 9th of the 7th game of the World Series, Scoring the winning TD in the Super Bowl, Hitting a winning three in game 7 of the NBA Finals, Scoring the winning goal in overtime of Game 7 in the Stanley Cup, Winning an Olympic Gold or Winning the Masters– which do you win?

KM- The walk off. Hitting a bomb to end it on that stage is just different than anything else. You become immortalized forever.
