We’d like to wish Yankees top prospect Aaron Judge a happy birthday today! The big man turns 24 years young.
Judge is off to a good start this season, as he tries to conquer the triple-A level. In 67 at-bats, he’s hitting .284/.306/.738 with two homers and nine RBI. He struggled after getting the call up to Scranton last season, so this early success is great to see.
Many expect Judge to take over the right field job next season since Carlos Beltran‘s contract expires after 2016. However, there’s always the possibility we could see him in the Bronx this year, whether it’s because of injuries to the Yankees outfield or a September call-up.
Standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing in at about 275 pounds, Judge is an imposing figure at the plate. He’s been compared to Giancarlo Stanton of the Marlins, although Judge is likely to be more of a line-drive hitter at the big league level.
Judge is the face of the new crop of Yankee prospects. As we move throughout 2016, we should be seeing more of them getting the call to the Bronx.
