The Yankees 25-year-old right-hander Ivan Nova, tells the Associated Press that there is no aftereffects from the strained flexor in his right forearm he suffered in game 5 of the 2011 ALDS.
“It’s perfect,” he said Wednesday. “100 percent. I was worried a little bit, but they said you’re going to be fine.”
Nova has been throwing off a mound well before spring training and will be competing with five other pitchers this spring (C.C. Sabathia, Phil Hughes, Freddy Garcia, Michael Pineda, Hiroki Kuroda) for a spot on the Yankees' five-man rotation.
The right-hander went 16-4 (most wins amongst major league rookies) with a 3.70 ERA in 27 starts last season and placed fourth in voting for American League Rookie of the Year.
