Yankees officially sign Chris Carter, DFA Richard Bleier

The Yankees have announced they have officially signed 1B/DH Chris Carter to a one-year, $3 million deal with a $500,000 signing bonus, plus incentives. In order to make room for Carter on the 40-man roster, they have designated left-handed reliever Richard Bleier for assignment.

Carter, 30, batted .222 (122-for-549) with 84R, 27 doubles, 1 triple, 41HR, 94RBI and 76BB in 160 games with the Brewers in 2016. In 23 appearances with the Yankees last season, Bleier posted a 1.96 ERA. Carter will wear number 48 for the Bronx Bombers.
