Bats go cold in Yankees loss to White Sox
NEW YORK -- After a successful road trip, the Yankees began their home stand on a sour note, dropping the series opener against the Chicago White Sox, 6-2, at Yankee Stadium. It was a sloppy night all around for the home team, as three late errors spelled doom for the Bombers.
Early on, things were looking good for New York after Masahiro Tanaka was able to get out of a bases loaded, no-out jam in the fourth inning, unscathed.
With momentum on their side, Gleyber Torres then hit a 444-foot bomb to dead center field to give the Yankees the early 2-0 lead.

That would be all the Yankees would get, however.
In the sixth, the White Sox would take their first lead and never give it up. Yoan Moncada, who grounded out to end the fourth, would make damage this time with a two-RBI double to tie the game at two.
Then, Nicky Delmonico hit a sacrifice fly to give Chicago the lead, 3-2. The away team could have scored more but a stellar catch by Shane Robinson stopped the threat.
Robinson, though, committed an error in the seventh that eventually resulted in more Chicago runs. By the end of the night, Tanaka ended with a final line of four runs on 10 hits, in seven innings pitched.
After A.J. Cole gave up two more runs in the ninth, the Yankees just did not look they had the power and energy to stir up a rally.
It was a disappointing loss to a White Sox team that 27 games under .500.
Giancarlo Stanton, who went 0 for 4, continued his struggles tonight as he continues his search for homer number 300. Stanton has been stuck on 299 for a while now.
