Bronx Bombers home run alert
Keeping tabs on every home run for the New York Yankees this season. I love Old Timers Day. My first game at the Old Yankee Stadium, the Yanks topped the Kansas City Royals, 5-4 on Old Timers Day 1996. Five of the players from the game, participated in the 2015 edition. Time flies. Yet on Saturday the Yankee offense appeared to be inspired by the plaque honoring of Willie Randolph and Mel Stottlemyre, turning back to a different era.
In their 14-3 trampling of the Detroit Tigers, Saturday evening, the Yankees cranked five round trippers. Didi Gregorius, Carlos Beltran (twice), Alex Rodriguez and Chris Young, all went yard.
During the second stanza, Gregorius went yard for the second consecutive contest. With a solo shot to right, off a 1-0 offering from Alfredo Simon. Gregorius' fourth of the season, equals Derek Jeter's total from 2014 and increased the Yanks lead to 2-0.

One frame later, Beltran launched one from the left side, off a 3-1 fastball from Simon. Beltran's drive to right-center, was his sixth homer of the season, number 21 as a Yankee and 379 of his career, growing the New York advantage to 4-0.
The same frame saw Rodriguez pick up hit number 3,001, going yard to left for his second home run in as many games, off a 1-1 pitch from Ian Krol. A-Rod's three-run smash, upped the Bombers lead to 8-0. It was home run number 14 on the campaign, 323 in Pinstripes and 668 of his career.

During the fourth, Beltran was back at it from the right side. Turning around an 0-1 change up from Krol, Beltran lined a solo shot to right for his second home run of the contest, number seven on the season, 22 in Pinstripes and 380 on his career. Beltran's opposite field drive, increased the Yankees edge to 9-0.

Capping off the barrage of bombs, Young smoked a laser to left, off a 1-2 pitch from position player Josh Wilson. It was Young's eighth homer of the season, his eleventh as a Yankee and number 163 on his career, making for a 14-3 Yankee lead.
