Derek Jeter has dinner with top prospects
In what is seemingly becoming an annual spring training rite of passage, a group of the Yankees' top prospects were treated to dinner with none other than The Captain, Derek Jeter. Justus Sheffield, Blake Rutherford and James Kaprielian are just a few of the players who have posted pictures to social media of themselves with Jeter, looking excited to be in the presence of a Yankee legend -- as you would expect. About 20 prospects altogether were at Oxford Exchange, a restaurant in Tampa, on Tuesday night. Jeter is starting to make this a regular event. The prospects that are involved in the organization's "Captain's Camp", which strives to teach young players how to handle life on and off the field, have been surprised in each of the past two years by Jeter at dinner during spring training. It's a good opportunity for the Baby Bombers to pick the brain of a guy who was once in their shoes. Although he hasn't remained visible at the Stadium, Jeter is quietly still involved with the organization and working with young players, often lending advice or guidance here and there. I think it's safe to say that Jeter picked up the check.
