Gardy's heroics lead Yankees past deGrom and the Mets
NEW YORK -- With two outs and the game tied at one, Brett Gardner turned on a Jacob deGrom pitch and sent it to the seats in right field. That proved to be the difference in New York's 4-1 win over the Mets at Citi Field.
The Yankees are back atop the American League East with the victory.

That would be all the Mets would get tonight, however. The Yankees would tie the game at one on an Aaron Judge sacrifice fly in the sixth, that scored Tanaka. On the play, though, the Yankee starter pulled both of his hamstrings causing him to be removed from the game. He left the game giving up just the one run, while striking out eight Mets. On a good note, the Yankee bullpen was excellent in the game, pitching four innings of shutout ball. After Gardner's homer in the eighth, Giancarlo Stanton added some insurance in the next frame, hitting his 15th long ball of the season. Domingo German faces Steven Matz in the second game of this three-game set tomorrow, at 7:15. Current Yankees Record: 41-18
