Sanchez took a lot of criticism for his efforts in Monday night's ballgame. The backstop failed to hustle on two separate plays, which were both important in regards to the outcome of the game. In the first inning, Sanchez failed to hustle for a pass ball, allowing a run to score.

Later on in the ball game, the Yankees had a chance to either tie the game or take the lead. With two outs in the ninth inning, Sanchez failed to run out a ground ball, resulting in the game-ending double play.

It is unknown exactly when Sanchez re-aggravated the injury. Some people around the industry believe that the 25-year-old was hurt during the first inning, which led to his lack of hustle later on in the game. The 2018 season has been an offensive struggle for Sanchez . In 66 games, the 25-year-old has posted a slash line of .188/.283/.416 over 279 plate appearances. This is another tough blow for the Yankees. While they battle for the American League East Division crown, they will have to manage without their All Star catcher for another stretch of games. The Yankees have not yet announced a corresponding roster move to replace Sanchez. It is likely that Kyle Higashioka will be recalled to take Sanchez's spot on the roster.
