Carlos Beltran Pulled From Game

(Photo by Norm Hall/Getty Images) Tropicana Field, his 2,500 career hit.  Manager Joe Girardi pulled Beltran from the lineup in the sixth inning, fearing the injury was more serious than what it originally seemed.  After the game, in the clubhouse, Beltran told reporters: “It was tight but nothing major,” he said. “I’m going to come in [Sunday], and if it feels sore, I’ll continue to get treatment and then I’ll be ready go . . . One of those things when you play baseball, things like that are going to happen.”  Girardi originally said that he did not want to play Beltran in right field in all three games of the series on artificial turf. With a 1:10pm first pitch after tonight's game, a day as the designated hitter or a day of rest may be in the cards for him tomorrow.  To this, the skipper said: ""We'll see how he is tomorrow".

Girardi said Beltran's right scapula "knotted up" so he took him out. Beltran said he thought tomorrow is a possibility
