Injury update: Jacoby Ellsbury

A concerning day for Yankees fans everywhere, as the Tampa Yankees have announced that outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury is not in the lineup for their game tonight. They are saying after going 0-3 in his rehab debut that he needs a day of rest. Ellsbury has been out since May 19th with a sprained right knee. With the Yankees having one of the worst team ERA(4.09) the offense needs to be firing on all cylinders, and Ellsbury can provide an instant boost with his bat and speed on the base paths. This announcement is a head-scratcher. Ellsbury is surely well rested after being out of activity for over a month. If anything, he needs to keep playing to shake off the rust and get back to playing form. This leads to some fans wondering if rest is really why Ellsbury is held out of tonight's game. Hopefully he really just needed a day off, but there is a lot of doubt still hanging over that statement. Re-injuring his knee is a good possibility, but that is all speculation at this point. Maybe the staff has had this plan all along, so that Ellsbury could play back-to-back on Wednesday and Thursday. Either way, fingers crossed, Bronx Faithful.
