Ken Singleton to return to YES Network booth in 2019
In March, YES Network analyst Ken Singleton announced the 2018 season would be his final season calling games. But after pleas from fans and a reminder from his wife that he loved calling baseball games, Singleton had a change of heart and will postpone retirement at least for one more season.
According to Randy Miller of NJ.com, Singleton and the YES Network are finalizing a one-year deal to have the 71-year-old call 24 games next year. Miller added Singleton wouldn't comment on the deal because he was still finalizing his contract with YES, but did say Singleton plans to work two of the three trips to Baltimore and Tampa Bay, along with a few series in the Bronx.
After retiring from baseball in 1984, Singleton went into broadcasting the following season. He was a sports commentator for the Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays, and Montreal Expos before joining the Yankees in 1996. Singleton often accompanies play-by-play announcer Michael Kay in the YES booth.
