MLB Winter Meetings: Day Three Thread
The Winter Meetings are into their third day and, as always, we've got you covered with all the news and rumors flying around. We'll keep this thread updated throughout the day, as we did for days one and two and as we will for the final day tomorrow.
5:00 PM | We have ourselves a doozy. After missing out on Chris Sale and Andrew McCutchen, the Nationals have traded No. 1 overall pitching prospect Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez (No. 3) and Dane Dunning (No. 6) to the White Sox in exchange for outfielder Adam Eaton. Giolito is MLB Pipeline's No. 3 overall prospect. Lopez is No. 38. Eaton is under team control through 2021 and allows the Nats to move Trea Turner back to his original position of shortstop. Clubs have not confirmed.

2:00 PM | There were rumblings last night of a Cubs/Royals trade involving closer Wade Davis. Today, we have the details. Chicago gets Davis and will send outfielder Jorge Soler to Kansas City.

11:15 AM | Fox's Ken Rosenthal reports that the Rockies have a deal in place with free agent outfielder Ian Desmond. It is said to be a 5-year, $70 million contract with a sixth-year option that could bring it as high as $83 million. Desmond rejected a qualifying offer from the Rangers earlier this offseason, which means Colorado will forfeit their top pick (number 11 overall) in next year's draft. Every team picking after Colorado now moves up one spot.

8:30 AM | Brian Cashman is said to be listening to offers on Brett Gardner. One possible landing spot? AL East rival Baltimore, according to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman. However, his contract is a little too rich for the Orioles, who would want some if it paid by the Yankees.
